Antony DÂsouza wins Best Director award

Famed director Antony DÂSouza, aka Tony, has been on an upswing since his directorial debut ÂBlue, which had a sprawling star cast that included Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Katrina Kaif, Lara Dutta and Zayed Khan and of course, the International Pop sensation Kylie Minogue along with the beautiful blue seas of the Bahamas. Not only did the movie have a colossal opening but it also got Tony his first award in direction.
The buzz around the film in the media was so overwhelming that it put Tony in the A-league of directors overnight. Not many are aware that before his filmy debut, Tony has directed several shows which has telecasted on AXN, the most famous one being ÂRipleyÂs Believe It Or NotÂ.
Recently, Tony won the Best Director award for the AXN Action Award. Said an excited Tony, ÂMy association with the channel goes beyond awards. Yes, I did get the best director award. It always feels nice when the hard work one has done gets appreciation and recognition. I am proud of the film and also very thankful to the audience who loved the film. Blue has created another level in terms of action in Bollywood and I hope to continue in creating something unique for my audience.Â
When quizzed further about his future plans he added, ÂI am writing my next script. But nothing has been finalized yet. I will be able to talk about it only in the coming months.Â
